Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in south-western France is a village surrounded by pink sandstone ramparts and crisscrossed by medieval streets.  This town lies on the river Nive, only 5 miles from the Spanish border.  We love this village for it's extremely historic, with inscriptions over doors - giving a clue to what life was like so many centuries ago.  For examples, at a former bakery, their inscription lists the price of wheat in 1789!  What is remarkable about this French reclaimed terra cotta tile lot we salvaged not too far from the village - is it's saturated and varied colored palette - just like the village itself.  It's surface texture has a satin patina and some tiles have a marble affect where the swirls of different colored clays interplay with the various sediments of the clay.  Pairing this lot of French reclaimed terra cotta tile hexagons with a new color way from our 18th century French oak flooring collection called Fallen Acorn. (NEW COLOR WAY! The Kings of France 18th Century French Oak Floors in Wide Plank Solid or Engineered - The Country House Collection: FALLEN ACORN) - enhances both materials - contrasting the bursts of color with the warmth of the warm, blonde woods.

Recommended Sealer after Installation:  Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring
