Provenance: Beuvron-en-Auge, Normandy - France

An archetypal village in Normandy, Beuvron-en-Auge lies inland on the Côte Fleurie or the Flowered Coast.  This area is abound with historic dwellings, from the grandeur of the timbered frame 16th-century Vieux Manoir to the colorful 17th century half-timbered homes that populate the village.  The French reclaimed terra cotta tile lot that we sourced from this region mirrors the clay roof tiles and stucco that lies in-between the timber framing.  This lot's beautiful color variation has a lovely range of earth tones, speckled with ivory and cream hues, laced with touches of olive gray.  These colors come from the way this tile was fired.  In wood-burning kilns, not every tile receives the same amount of heat.  The tiles that are the lightest have been highly kissed by the flame!  Finally, there is beautiful craftsmanship from the edge detail that defines each tile's hexagonal shape.
