A good two hours from Paris via the A20, in Central France, nestles the village of Gargilesse-Dampierre.  Listed since 1982 as one of the most beautiful villages in France, we were thrilled to salvage an antique terra cotta tile lot in this region.  Upon arriving, we were told this lot was exceptional and rare - and upon seeing it - we could not have agreed more.   At first, I told François this must be stone - but with confirmation - this lot was indeed an antique terra cotta tile octagon.  Not our usual and always beautiful hexagon - but an octagon - which is usually made from French limestone.  What confused us at first was simply the color - the color of antique French limestone.  What a marvel to behold - an antique terra cotta tile that was a blend of white, gray and old ivory colors, with just a whisper of rosé hues - softening and warming the color palette.  The surface of this tile is elegantly worn - clearly well-loved over the centuries due to the extraordinary patina it presents.  The contrast of the antique terra cotta tile cabochon to the stone-colored octagon is eye-popping - splendidly hand-crafted with precise edging to complete this geometric pattern.  Authentic in every detail, this is a floor worthy of an historic home that demands perfection.

Recommended Sealer after Installation:  Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring

Cleaning and Maintenance:  This lot will need surface cleaning after installation. Vacuum, then clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
