Collections: French Provincial and Dutch Delft Wall Tile DecorativesBack
Pulling from original museum pieces of 17th Century Dutch Delft Tiles, these original hand painted pieces by co-owner Emmi Micallef, help continue a Delftware tradition that keeps an historic design history alive. First brought to Amsterdam via the Dutch East India Company in the 1600's, the popularity of Chinese porcelain with a white glaze and blue motifs created a fervor to recreate this type of ceramic in the Netherlands. Depicting scenes from children playing to ships encapsulated a history that historians and museums cherish today. Repainted original designs and kiln-fired onto a hand made field tile in cool white or cream, Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc. continues the Dutch Delft Tile tradition that is historically accurate with added elegance.
